ANOTHER MAJOR ORDER FOR DVA FROM FORD

DV Automation have won a second major order from Ford just a few months after securing a large contract from the car maker.

This latest order means DVA will build 6 electro-mechanical table top hemming machines for Ford's Camacari factory in Brazil, which will form part of a complete, highly-automated, body-in-white production line to be installed by its parent company, KUKA Systems GmbH.

Ford will use the DVA equipment for hemming hoods, front and rear doors, and swing gate panels for the new Ford Fiesta. The order includes a number of DVA combination units, which are designed to undertake the external and internal window aperture hemming operations within the same machine.

DVA, specialist manufacturers of complete closure assembly systems for vehicle bodies, are due to deliver the machines by the end of the year. As well as involving DVA engineers from its UK headquarters, the project will be supported by KUKA staff from Brazil and the USA.

The Halesowen-based company have already been chosen to supply 10 machines to Ford's plant in Rayong, Thailand, for hemming hoods, front and rear doors, liftgate and decklid panels for the new Ford Focus.

"We previously supplied our machines to Ford Brazil around 7 years ago for a range of Fiesta models, so we're delighted that we've been chosen again on the basis of the reliability and quality of our equipment," said Mark Schlanker, DVA's business manager.

The new body-in-white production line will also feature KUKA robots, which will be mainly used for car body spot welding and material transport.
