The Flexible Table top Electro-Mechanical Hemming System
|
Flex Hemmer
Due to the changing trend within the automobile industry for more models or variants of particular models, DVA has developed a fully flexible system.
The system is designed and built to the same successful formula as the DVA electro-mechanical peripheral system, which is well known in the automotive industry throughout the globe. The concept behind the design was to create a fully flexible system with minimum specific tooling. This tooling concept brought about a cassette system which is part specific and can be loaded and unloaded for different parts in a very short time eliminating downtime.

Among the obvious advantages to this system are the space saving benefits. Maintenance and tryout are significantly reduced. Pilot build which normally requires a small number of parts can be carried out on one machine.
The main hemming tool can be used for a particular part or designed to accommodate a wide and varied number of cassettes to complete a set of closures for a particular model or for a number of separate model variants. The cassettes are designed to be removed and loaded in the shortest amount of time and each cassette holds all of the part specific elements therefore eliminating any change to the main tool. This ensures a consistent changeover quality.
There is also a significant cost saving with the DVA flexible system using one main tool with 2 or more cassettes.
System Advantages
- Flexible for different parts.
- Pre-and Final Hemming in one station.
- Hemming in a “closed ring“ sequence.
- All part specific components interchangeable, i.e change over hemming die cassettes.
- Use of standard components.
- Easy access.
- Less floor space required.
- Easy loading & unloading.
- Process safety.
- Low maintenance.
- Lower energy costs.
- Nominal hemming force 2000 N/cm2.
- Inner hemming can be integrated.
